Christine attended the Music School of Douglas Academy for six years studying the clarinet with Geoffrey Haydock. From the young age of seventeen she started to freelance with the BBC SSO.
She continued her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, London. During her time as a student she enjoyed tours with NYOS and the NMSO, and won several duo and chamber music awards. She then started teaching her first pupils in London.
After auditioning for the Royal Air Force(RAF) Music Services and completing her basic military training, Christine served for fifteen years in the RAF Central Band. She held the positions of Principal, Co-Principal and specialised on E-flat clarinet.
During her time in the RAF she performed at many prestigious occasions, including the Festival of Remembrance, the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
She has also played on many recordings with the band as well as concerts around the UK and abroad such as Australia, Cyprus, France and the Netherlands.
As section leader, she took great interest in the development and well-being of the other clarinettists within her team. Coaching of others became a great passion that then developed into mentoring and teaching new recruits for the whole of RAF Music Services.
On leaving the RAF, Christine continued teaching and went on to study and qualify as a Body Control Pilates teacher. She also completed her Yoga teacher training.
She currently plays with the Scottish Clarinet Choir conducted by John Cushing.
